Happy New Year to you friends of the Coal Line! And may it prove a productive one at the coalface for you all.
It is looking to be an exciting year for the Peckham Coal Line. Events kick off with The Winter Wassail at Kirkwood Nature Reserve this coming Sunday 29thJanuary . A wassail is an old English tradition where people come together to encourage fruit trees towards a fruitful crop. So please come and join us between 3pm and 6pm to help sing the apple trees into action.
Local choir Peckham Rye Sings will be on hand to bring some tunes to the nature reserve and Penny, of Pickling Peckham fame, will cook up some tasty foraged delights. It will also be a chance to see the model of the proposed Peckham Coal Line for the first time. This is just one of the elements of the feasibility study that you have made happen, and it’s exciting to see it in action (if miniature). We can’t wait to hear what you think of it (and here's a sneaky peek of it):
This is one of many opportunities for you to feed back into the feasibility study and let us know how you would like to use the Peckham Coal Line. We will be taking to the streets and the schools of Peckham over the next couple of months testing out the findings of the feasibility study and further engaging the local community. If you like talking to and meeting people and would like to help, we’d love to have you on board, just drop us a line.
And for those supporting the project from further afield, you can share who you would take to the line and how you would use it here.
We are gearing up for a grand feasibility launch in spring, revealing where the Peckham Coal Line could go next. We’re excited to be at this stage but there are a few other elements that we need help with to make the launch all it deserves to be. So if you have any ideas or expertise in terms of design, printing or publicity, or just have some spare time, please get in touch.
Hope to see some of you at Kirkwood on Sunday, and we’ll keep you posted about other events coming up soon.
